Individualized Education Plan
During the first few weeks of school, teachers develop the IEP goals and objectives based on standardized assessment results, comprehensive curriculum based assessments, classroom observations, and daily work. Teachers also review information provided by former teachers and parents and all evaluations in a student’s file.
The student’s progress is reported to parents in February and May. Teachers grade specific objectives on each student’s IEP and write narrative reports detailing student improvement. If objectives have been mastered, new ones may be added or modified midyear. The June narrative includes recommendations, which the current teacher perceives as the critical skills and objectives to be dealt with in the next school year.
