Occupational Therapy

Parents make payments arrangements for individual therapy directly with the therapist. The therapist also provides screenings for students and consultation and in-service professional development for teachers. Teachers then incorporate strategies and activities recommended by occupational therapist into the student's program.

Typical interventions include handwritting techniques, pencil grip strenghtening, prewriting and writing skills, and sensory modulation techniques. Villa Maria also provides adaptive devices and equipement and assistive technology as needed. Individual therapy may target motor skills, balance and coordination, muscle tone and strength, visual perceptual skills as well as fine motor, pencil grip, and sensory processing.
