After School Programs

Villa Maria offers after school programs Monday through Thursday afternoons from dismissal at 2:40 until 3:40 PM. All activities are supervised by certified teachers. Activities change each semester according to student interest and teacher availability. Programs may include:

Homework Club

Teachers help students organize and complete homework assignments. Teachers assist students who have trouble with more difficult work or staying focused on task, so students are free to play when they get home.

Sports Spectacular

Students learn a variety of skills in sports such as baseball, Capture the Flag, Flag football, Kickball, etc. They develop good sportsmanship, teamwork, and most of all have a fun time.

Board Games

Monopoly, The Game of Life, Backgammon, and anything else you have in your game closet can be played and enjoyed. While having fun, students will practice taking turns, strategic planning, how to win/lose gracefully, and how to be a helpful peer.

Cooking

Featuring child friendly and easy to prepare recipes, students bring their appetites and creativity and have fun. This is a favorite for all ages. Could it be the reward of eating and enjoying their edible creations?

Mad Science

Hands-on science activities include such topics as rocketry, magnets, polymers and even science toys. Students watch spectacular demonstrations, participate in discussions and take home items that they have made, such as model rockets, periscopes, Mad Science putty and more.

Chess Club

Beginning chess players learn the names of chess pieces and how they move. They learn the basic idea of the game and plan strategies needed. Intermediate and advanced players will learn more advanced strategies, such as opening, middle and end moves and tactics in depth.
