An IEP for each student is evaluated a minimum of two times during the academic year. The evaluation consists of a specific rating (guidelines for interpretation are on the IEP) for each individual objective in the content areas and is accompanied by a cumulative narrative evaluation in January and June. The June narrative includes recommendations, which the current teacher perceives as the critical skills and objectives to be dealt with in the next school year.
:: Achievement Tests
Achievement tests in reading, language arts, and math are administered at least once a school year in January or May. These tests not only measure achievement, but also provide a basis for planning remedial instruction in the areas in which specific weaknesses exist. They are administered by the teachers or by a trained specialist. Test results are generally included in the comprehensive reports and shared with parents during conferences.
:: Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent Conferences are scheduled three times throughout the year: in October, February, and June. Parents are afforded the opportunity to participate in all meetings to develop, review, or revise the educational program for their child and to receive reports of their child’s progress.
Parents have the right to inspect and review their child’s test results and comprehensive reports. Parents who wish a conference at any other time may make an appointment through the school office or directly with the teacher.
