Meet Jamie Quinn
In Jamie's own words: "What I remember best about Villa is how the teaching methods were really geared towards each child's personal learning style and how many life lessons I learned while attending Villa Maria that I could apply to my future. The lessons that really stick out in my mind are skills such as writing, grammar, speech, organization, and math. As a child, I struggled with all of my work to the point in which I would cry sometimes when I did my homework due to the amount of effort and struggle it was to get it done. Without Villa Maria, I do not know where my skills would be in such areas as writing, math, speech, and organization."
"Hobbies, talents and special interests: Growing up, I have always had a love/passion for cars, especially high end cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and BMW. This led me to taking auto mechanic classes which include how to take care of a car, from oil changes to changing the break pads of a car. Another special interest that I love is technology, such as computers, software, music production, and my personal favorite, car audio and visual. Car audio and visual are the speakers and accessories you can put in your car, such as TV's and sub woofers. There has not been a day in many years which I have not thought about cars. Some of my hobbies include skiing, lacrosse, and golf, which I like to do for fun."
"Every winter since I was two years of age, I have been on skis. Skiing has become such a passion for me that I have skied all over the world, including British Columbia, Canada, South America, Utah, Colorado, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. As a 3rd grade student at Villa, I started playing lacrosse and have enjoyed it very much. I came so far as to be a starting member on the Varsity Team of my high school for two years. Ever since Villa Maria, I have had a new take on life because Villa helped me build my self confidence, in which I know I can conquer almost anything and pursue what I am interested in."
"What I learned at Villa that helped me most were the skills I learned as well as overcoming my learning disability. I have been able to achieve many goals since attending Villa, such as graduating high school to getting my driver's license, because they helped me believe in myself that I could do anything if I put my mind to it. I have been told many negative things about my future, but Villa Maria gave me the confidence to show others that I could do it and overcome any obstacle of any size."
Special message: To my classmates that I attended Villa Maria with, do not allow anybody tell you who YOU are and who you are going to be. Only you can achieve what you set for yourself, no matter what it is. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Before we acquire great power we must acquire wisdom to use it well." From the prayer, An Irish Blessing, "May the wind be at your back." Keep fighting for what you believe in and what you want to do in life."
