2009 National Teacher of the Year Visits Villa Maria
Anthony Mullen, the National Teacher of the Year, visited Villa Maria on December 21, 2009. This school year, he is traveling throughout the US and foreign nations as ambassador for the organization. Sister Carol Ann, Executive Director, met him at a conference in October and invited him to Villa Maria. Thus, his visit was a personal one, as a special education teacher, and not as NTOY.
He really enjoyed his visit and hopefully will come back in the spring for a staff development day. He is a very inspirational and motivating speaker, down to earth, humble, and has a great sense of humor. Attached is an article about him.

The school began in 1962 as a tutoring program in the rooms of a nearby carriage house. It then moved into its own building and expanded into the adjacent convent. Villa Maria recently received an approval to increase its enrollment cap to 120.
